Painting by numbers Colors dried up?
As acrylic paints are water-based, you can make these paints liquid again by adding water. Hot water is best for this, which you pour drop by drop into the pot. Then stir the dried paint thoroughly and wait for the water and dried acrylic paint to mix thoroughly. In this way, you can make acrylic paints liquid again without the need for special thinners.
Storing paint by numbers correctly
To make the problem of "paint by numbers dried up" a thing of the past, you should take a closer look at the best way to store the products.
In principle, it is essential that the pots are kept completely airtight. If in doubt, double check that you have closed the lid properly. You should also remove any dried paint stains from the edges of the pots or the inside of the lid before closing them.
To avoid having to make your paints liquid again in the first place, you should also ensure that they are stored in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. It is particularly important to ensure that acrylic paints are not exposed to frost.
If you follow these storage tips, there is a good chance that you will be able to say goodbye to dried (acrylic) paints for good.
Paint by numbers brush dried out - What to do?
If you have noticed that your paint by numbers brushes have dried out, we have good news for you: Often the brushes can still be saved even if the situation seems hopeless at first. You can clean dried brushes as follows:
Clean dried brushes with vinegar
If the paint has not yet dried completely hard, you can try using vinegar essence to clean it. This household remedy is a real all-rounder and is already available in most households anyway. Heat the vinegar essence, pour it into a glass and soak the brush in it for at least five minutes. Important: As metal and vinegar do not mix well, you should make sure that the vinegar essence does not reach the metal socket of your brush.
Clean the brush with washing-up liquid
If your paint-by-numbers brush has dried out and you are dealing with paint residue that is already completely dry, washing-up liquid is better than vinegar. Mix a solution consisting of lukewarm water and a good portion of washing-up liquid, place the brush in it and leave it to work for around 30 minutes.
Clean the brushes with curd soap
Another way to clean your dried brushes is to use curd soap. To do this, moisten the soap and brush over it a few times until you notice a lather. You can then usually rinse the paint residue out of the dried brush without any problems. Make sure that you wash the brushes thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
What are dotting pens?
Connected by a shaft are metal pins on both sides that end in ball heads of different sizes. They offer a perfect alternative to brushes and are suitable for small and large areas. Our dotting pen has a shaft made of high-quality wood and is therefore particularly easy to grip. This also makes them robust and durable.
Our set consists of 3 dotting pens with the following ball end sizes: 0.9 / 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm
How do I use the Schipper Paint by Numbers Dotting Pen?
The handling is very simple. Use the dotting pen or another tool to transfer paint from the pot to your canvas, apply the dotting pen and spread the paint in the corresponding area. When painting with dotting pens, it can be helpful to dilute the paint a little more than when painting with a brush. Test carefully until you find the perfect consistency for you.
The different tip/sphere sizes mean that large and small fields can always be painted appropriately. Depending on the size, you can draw more or less fine lines.
At the end, you can simply wipe the paint off the pen with a cloth and perhaps a little water. And you can start with the next color! The advantage of using a brush here is that you don't have to constantly wash out your hair.
